Cindy Wyels, PhD

Cindy Wyels, PhD

Dr. Cynthia Wyels, a faculty member in Mathematics, initiated the move to bring LSAMP to the CSU Channel Islands campus, and took on program direction in Spring, 2011. She's the co-director of CI's Project ACCESO and is responsible for ACCESO's Student Success programs. She conducts grant-funded research with undergraduates through the NSF's Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program during the summers, and often engages CI students in mathematical research during the academic year. She is a receipient of the Mathematical Association of America's 2012 Haimo Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics; she used the platform provided to promote research with "unexpected" undergraduates, i.e., LSAMP-type students!
